Brew Day No. 2

Best Laid Plans.

Things have been rather quiet on the blog recently. To be honest I’ve not been sure how to put a positive spin on a month filled with delays and disappointments. Happily, there seems to be some rays of sunshine peaking out from behind those grey clouds at last.

Let’s start off by getting the bad new out of the way. Sadly, the batch of Bolster’s Blood that was brewed back in May has had to be dumped. It tasted and smelled wonderful, but there was a problem with yeast and hop matter not settling out and it looked terrible. It took several weeks to exhaust every possible way of getting the beer to clear, and also to work out why it might have gone wrong.

Whilst that was going on though, we have also taken delivery of a walk in chiller to store my beer in the best condition, and also a couple of pallets of kegs and casks.

Yesterday, I finally got round to a second brew day at Tinhead Brewery. This time it was an American Pale Ale, called Ash and Elm, which we have high hopes for.

There is also another bit of exciting news in the pipeline, but I think I will make you wait a week or so for that.
