Gonna need a bigger beer tent.

Saturday we enjoyed a lively trip out to Leeds. I say lively for various reasons…Firstly we were excited to be meeting up with beery friends, and secondly, trying some new beers we haven’t had the pleasure of before.

What should have been a relatively easy journey, turned out to be rather arduous. Our marketing manager isn’t a fan of public transport, but we had train beers to soften the blow. Thornbridge Lord Marples Bitter and Mysterious Brewing Plan B American Pale went down rather well. So well in fact, we realised relatively late into the journey we had boarded the wrong train. So we got off and went all the way back, two stops from our initial boarding. We got on another train and thought – this is it, we’re back on track, but that would be too easy! We had boarded the wrong train again and it wasn’t going to be stopping at New Pudsey as expected. Now we had to choose between going back again, going onto Leeds and hope the ticket conductor lets us off, or get an Uber. We decided on the latter and were now 1.5 hours late for our festival. We had some serious supping to do to make up for lost time.

After a ‘lively’ journey, we needed something light and refreshing to quench the thirst. The sun started shining through the grey clouds as we arrived so we decided to pitch ourselves outside on the grassed bank. Bigger Boat by Amity went down far too quickly, we searched through the programme to line up the next. We had found some AMAZING ‘new to us’ beers. Harrogate Best Bitter had Ruth hooked straight away, but I had a Barrel Aged Imperial Morrisman from Elusive, which was everything I expected it to be. The catering offering was on point; we both went for pulled pork, which helped line the stomach and ready ourselves for more beer!

Thank you so much Russ and Amity Brew Co. team for putting on a superb weekend. Its a shame we could only pop by for the Saturday afternoon session. But this we do know… you’re gonna need a bigger beer tent next year.
